BMW EVO android navigation GPS screen installation retrofit guide

Jan-2021 update: Please notice, the power cable for EVO models have changed, thus, the wire-diagram need to change accordingly.

Below is the BMW android screen NEW installation manual for BMW EVO head unit

Remark:

(1): Move the optical cable (if any) to android power harness (if not, no sound output), read more.

(2): Connect female connector to the back of radio head unit.

(3): Connect USB cable.
(4): Connect OEM LVDS cable to android screen, read more
(5): Connect Power cable for android screen.

(6): Connect 4G LTE antenna for Qualcomm model (PX6 model without it).

(7): Install the GPS antenna (DO NOT use GPS antenna splitter), read more
(8): MIC in (If you feel the built-in MIC is not so good, you can connect the external microphone (the external MIC we offer as gift). For PX6 EVO models,
it using OEM Bluetooth, don't need to connect it.

(9): TV/DVR (dash CAM) is optional for installation.

(10): If you install the aftermarket backup camera, it need to get the power from the android power cable, DO NOT connect it to the rear reverse lamp.
(11) (12): For EVO car type, it need to connect well the USB (if not, no sound output), notice to connect 5V cable.

 

Why change the power harness for EVO android models.

The old power harness is easier to install it, since it transfer the audio on the back of radio head unit. But some EVO cars with special USB cable, the old power harness can not compatible with it, the screen keep flashing and without audio in speakers. To resolve this problem, it need to cut the USB and connect it again, and update the firmware, this is big trouble for new installer.

That is why to design a new harness and make it will compatible with different EVO car types, the sound quality same as the old harness, the difference is, it need to distribute the USB to the armrest box.
